Map2 Its Time!!

Well it's finally time for my ride. I need to do something but it wont be until 3/28/09. This gives me time to practice all my turning and stuff on my short rides around the valley, which i can take the practice but its already vastly improving. I have only done src, and i wouldnt mind doing it again but if anybody likes a different ride more and enough people will go i'm definitely open. It can't be until the 28 or 29 though, so whatever gets the most votes and the most people is what we will do, i prefer early morning but anything is good.

So any ideas on location and recommended start time, and a good place to eat throw em out here and we can vote. oh and please specify if you only recommend a ride or if you would actually go that day because i would rather have some people there but still open to all recommendations.

I am up for the 28th due to the weekdays and it's hard for me to get out on a ride sometimes due to already made doctor appts. I have to practice my curves to but the more you get out there (like src or sm) the better you get at least that's the way it works for me. Maybe we can together to practice.
We can eat at the Mexican Restaurant there in Superior (super good and not $$) so it's an idea and as far as meet up time ohh 8:30 KU up at 9:00 figure out a place to meet after we get more people.

I'm not sure if I totally understand what you're asking, but I guess you want thoughts on where to go on the 28th?

That depends.

How far/long do you want to ride?
How technical do you want the ride to be?
I see you're in Chandler so I'm going to assume you would prefer to go east?

Short but technical would be Tortilla Flat.
Longer and less technical would be the Winkleman Loop.

Inbetween would be Globe, or Roosevelt Lake, SRC.

Much longer and still technical would be Mt Lemmon or Kitt Peak assuming the snow has receded a bit by the end of the month.

TTF is Very technical. I don't know how long you have been riding Ryan, so if your time on a bike has been short you may want to elect not to take that ride on just yet. I see you found SWR from TEAM AZ so I might suggest the Winkleman loop to be a good choice, or SRC.

I would agree with Tom on TTF if you're fairly new to riding. The ride from Superior to Winkleman has good pavement, good elevation changes, and big sweepers. It also takes you past the Ray Mine if you want to watch the B-I-G trucks hauling ore for a few minutes. I stopped there yesterday at the visitors viewpoint and it was pretty neat. If this interests you, know that you may have to ride through a little bit of mud/gravel to get there. There were two patches that I had to ride through but I did it two-up on a large sport tourer without any problems. Each patch was only about 20 feet long.

With an early start you can have breakfast at the Buckboard in Superior, lunch at Lupe's in Oracle, ice cream cone at Sonic in Florence, and then on home.

Ryan, I'm with on NOT going to TTF for the simple fact I'm not comfortable and I've been warned myself. But whatever ride you want to do, I'm there. I'm also here in Gilbert so your next door to me and Ski (my husband) so let us know, we'll ride with you. Gives me more practice since I had to take 5 years off from riding and just got back on the saddle in Nov 09

Sounds like this should be more of a low key, easy-going ride so the Winkleman route would be appropriate.

The question would be how far you want to go. You can ride to Winkleman and return; or you can take 77 north up to Globe and then back through Superior and on into town; or you can take 77 south to Mammoth, Oracle, Oracle Junction, and then 79 north back up through Florence. The southern route would be a much longer ride and it won't have much in the way of curves but it will help you get some miles under your wheels.
