TTF Road Condition

I'm planning on riding to TTF with a few buddies this weekend (weather permitting). I rode on New Year's day, so I'm pretty familiar with the road condition, but I'm wondering how that road is after a heavy rain. Are there areas along that road (88) that flood out?

Thanks,

Matt

Depending on rainfall it's very possible that the road just beyond the restaurant to the top section will be flooded. It's not usually very deep, but it's worth noting.

Be careful; the rains could also have moved more sand onto the road.

If you are intent on riding to TTF this weekend, be very very careful. After a heavy rain, expect to encounter lots of sand and gravel on the road in various places. There are 2 washes after TTF that are likely to contain flowing water. Whether or not you can cross depends on the depth and flow rate.

The wash just after the restaurant usually runs over the roadway after a good rain, and the wash about a mile north of that just before the sweepers can surprise you after a good rainfall as well. Your best bet is to take it easy heading in and enjoy the top section which fares rather well after a good drenching.

I actually rode it Monday morning when it already started raining. I did not not realize that the road is so bad until I saw the wet surface and most of it did not reflect the sunlight well - which means a lot of dirt, small rocks, sand.

I always managed to find a pieces of useful pavement and stick to it but that was an eye opener. Top part is nice though.

This was the most awesome TTF ride so far in spite not at the full pace. Only one cage met on the way to the top. Besides that, totally empty including TTF restaurant parking. Like after nuclear attack.
