Draggin” Jeans

Draggin' Jeans

Most of us ride around with very inadequate protection for the lower half of our body; I am not even going to get into short wearing riders. I am talking about jeans of course. While we may think that jeans would protect us in a drop the fact of the matter is that after just a few feet jeans will shred to bits and nothing will be left between skin and pavement. There is the whole other issue of impact, but even from a slide standpoint jeans offer about two feet of protection over shorts. If you want to have at least the look of jeans with substantially much more protection then take a look at Draggin’ Jeans as they offer a stylized look with the protection of Kevlar, a proven protective material.

Slidin’ Around

Now, please understand that if you fall from your bike and have an impact these jeans will not protect you, the only thing that will is some sort of impact armor. This is offered as an upgrade to the jeans, but for the purpose of this review I will only be talking about the protection from a slide. That being said let’s take a look at the construction of these jeans and what makes them different. From the outside these look much like any other type of jeans, albeit maybe a little more bulky. That comes from the fact the jean material is of a thinker stock than the new stylized fashion jeans, and from the fact that underneath lies added protection in the form of Kevlar in key areas. The Kevlar is added in the knee and butt area and can be seen in the photos here. Before the first washing of the jeans you may find that the Kevlar is slightly noticeable, not really annoying. Be warned that when you first get the jeans you should try them on first before removing any labels what so ever. Put them on, walk around and even sit on your bike. Make sure they are comfortable as when you remove the labels they are yours! No returns.

Leave these labels until you are sure they fit,

Breakin’ Them In

After a few washes I have found that these jeans wear very nice on the road and no one has even noticed them as different. Due to the thicker nature of the jeans they are nicer on cooler runs and deflect road debris rather well. Even though they are thicker I have not had any issue in the midst of summer here in Phoenix, even on those 115-degree days. I selected the relaxed jeans as they fit a little better and after having received the Classic fit jeans first I sent them back before I removed the labels. The fit was just not for me, but true to the claims the return was processed without issue.

Go Get Em

If you want improved protect with style to boot these jeans are for you. After having them for sometime I bought a second pair and even a jacket. Protection is never a bad thing, and looking good as well certainly helps.
